On Sunday 22nd June A.D. 2025 at our 11 am Mass in the in the beautiful church of St Pie X in Belair, our 500 person strong international Catholic community gathered to mark a special moment: the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ call to care for our Common Home.
10 years of Laudato Si’… and yes, we had cake to celebrate and to remind us that joy and community are part of ecological conversion too!
Many thanks to everyone who helped us organise such a lovely gathering filled with reflection and community spirit: we shared home-made birthday cakes, vegetable pies, fairy cakes and muffins; we sang the Laudato Si’ hymn, and renewed our commitment to being better stewards of creation inspired by our faith.
This anniversary reminds us that caring for the Earth is a shared journey of awareness, action, and hope.
Cutting the cake and sharing the mission. We sang, we shared, we celebrated because caring for our common home is a joy worth spreading.
This anniversary reminds us that caring for the Earth is a shared journey of awareness, action, and hope.
Check out the short, 6-minute speech by Salvatore Coppola-Finegan during Fr Michael’s homily:

Speech: Celebration of 10 years of the Encyclical LAUDATO SI
Salvatore emphasized that Laudato Si’ is more than a document; it’s a universal call to care for our common home, especially for the most vulnerable. In his words: “Put one hand on your heart — and with the other, help us. Donate, volunteer, speak up, act. It’s not too late.”
Want to get involved with our association? We’re always happy to welcome new members, volunteers, and advisors. Whether you have time, skills, or simply a heart for the planet, there’s a place for you in this mission. Please get in touch via email on hope [at] laudatosi.lu
Crafted by hands, inspired by nature. The Earth is not just where we live, it’s what we share!
